Making a difference...
TOGETHER...We CAN make a difference! I don't know exactly where I picked up that saying but it seems to fit my life pretty well. Sometimes I get to feeling that I have to do things all by myself to get the job done but the older I'm getting (and wiser, perhaps, too) the more I realize that this is just not the case. This past weekend proved to me once again that coming together as a team is a valuable treasure.
With the help of scout leaders, scout members, friends & family, our boy scout troop was able to surpass last year's $$$ total PLUS we also earned a Team Spirit Award. How cool is that...?!!!
But in spite of all these good things, there is still one major point that needs to be addressed. Staying up all night at the Relay for the 3rd year in a row has finally gotten me to see things in a new light. I realize I just CAN'T continue this way & I'm absolutely going to have to seek more over-night coverage next year.
For one thing, I'm just not physically able to do it & secondly, it just makes more sense to ASK for help.
I guess I just used to be too much of a perfectionist (or whatever...) & figured that if I didn't do it myself it wouldn't get done the right way or something, an ALL or nothing way of thinking. Boy! What a dope I've been & what a waste of time, talents & yes, even treasures. I've put so much energy into living this way that no wonder I feel so wasted, tired & drained. What I've learned is that being a leader is not about doing it all by yourself. A good leader & team manager delegates the responsibility & coaches others to bring forth their best assets.
Well, at least that's the plan... Now, all I have to do is JUST DO IT!... TOGETHER, of course!!!
