Camp K...
Wednesday - July 7thHi! Ho! It's off to Camp Karoondinha we go...!!! to visit Mike. I received a message yesterday requesting the following items: soap; a working flashlight; & a dry pair of shoes. Seems like a reasonable request. Jim & I were planning to drive up separately but one of the Mom’s asked me to ride along with her. We picked up 10 whole pizzas along the way for our family-style gathering.
You would not have believed the storm that hit while I was visiting. Jim didn't stay for the closing so he didn't get a drop on him. It poured & poured & poured!!! ...so much so that the Order of the Arrow ceremony had to be moved under a pavilion & the ceremony cut short. It was disappointing for the boys who were tapped out but the situation couldn't be helped.
Mike was his not-so-eager-to-see-me self. Enough said...
I've always enjoyed going up to Camp K. Gosh! I can't even remember how many years its been since we've been going there...going back to when Mark was in scouting. Some things have changed & others haven't. The kids still complain that the food isn't that good but that's pretty much expected. This past year they improved the showers.
Now that Mike has soap, taking a shower shouldn't be too much of a problem. Gee! I wonder if he packed a towel...
It's Official...
Monday - July 6thMichelle handed in her ‘official’ resignation letter today. On Thursday, we're going to meet with the Library Director to give her our proposal for what we (Jeff & I) think should happen regarding Michelle's position.
Dancing with the Bride...
I'm backtracking quite a bit but I felt I needed to fill in the blanks before moving ahead. Last weekend (July 3rd) we attended the wedding of the daughter of one of our friends & neighbors, the Fetzkos.
The wedding was great! Jim actually danced 3 slow dances with me. Go figure… I can’t remember when we last danced together…really, yes, it’s been that long.
We had to bribe Mike… but then he finally agreed to dance a fast dance with me. Matt danced a slow dance with me too…no bribery needed.
The style of dress of the wedding party was strapless gowns & Sara fit right in with her black & white print. All the girls were adjusting their upper parts from time to time all through the evening. I tried to make light of Sara’s dress-stress, getting her to relax & loosen up a bit (oops...)& suggested we get out the duct tape. Oh well...
Our priest, Fr. Ted, was there to perform the ceremony. Everything considered, we had a great weekend.

Back to Lowe's...
Jim headed out to Lowe’s today to get some mulch & some other stuff that we forgot to pick up yesterday when we were there. The facet out back is linking so he’s also going to try to fix that today.
Well, needless-to-say, Jim had to make a 'second' trip back to Lowe's, because, well, uh, he left the part that he needed to fix the faucet in the shopping cart. When he got there, it was nowhere to be found, so, he had to buy a whole new part.
Let's just say he's NOT a happy camper...

Home alone...
The 4th was a blast…! : ) Well, actually, it was pretty quiet around here but, that's how it goes…
Mark was up in Boston visiting Kara. Mike left for Camp K around noontime on Sunday; & Matt headed back to Penn State shortly after for a little 4th of July celebration with a bunch of his friends. That meant that Jim & I were home alone, like a couple of old farts (excuse the expression) ready to get down to some serious R & R.
But, first we decided to dine out - lunch at Arby's (they make these really great chicken wraps). Next we did a little shopping at Lowe’s for household odds & ends. This week's BIG project is cleaning up the family room so I convinced Jim that he needed a workstation for his computer fix-it projects. We bought a portable folding table which I think will serve the purpose nicely. Upon our arrival home, the togetherness part pretty much came to a halt & we each settled into our favorite corners, Jim took to the family room & I headed for the 'green chair' in the living room. I didn’t mean to… but, uh, well, the sofa just sorta called out to me & the next thing I knew, I was fast asleep & half the day was gone. Of course you know what that meant… yep! I just couldn’t’ fall asleep at nighttime & so today my system is all out of whack.

There's more to gardening...
The flowers that I planted around the house are doing very well, except for the ones next to the basketball hoop. Enough said... I gave all the plants a good soaking this morning. The deck garden is looking good as well. The bean plants & tomotoes are starting to flower & the herbs are beginning to push through the soil.
If it weren't for other circumstances (which I won't go into right now...) we probably would have a regular vegetable plot outback but the deck garden is a reliable substitute for the joy of watching Mother Earth do her thing & produce new life.
Yesterday I dug around the other apple tree & laid a ring of decorative stones around the base. The lawn is starting to take shape very nicely.
I also have to say what a great week it's been health-wise, that's both physical AND mental health.
I started going to the gym at SU after the noon Mass instead of coming right home. Well, actually, I only went there twice this week so far but that's a good beginning for me, at least. I LOVE using the treadmill! The first day I walked 1.13 miles & then increased the distance to 1.98 miles on my second try. I'm so proud of me...!!! Actually, I have Sara to thank...for her support & inspiration. Sara's been working out at the gym a couple of times a week since she started her job at the library. I look at it this way...if she hadn't 'planted the seed', hey, I might not have started to grow... THANKS SARA!!!
I'm wearing my 'stepometer' almost everyday since I got it at Mikey D's & even if it isn't the most accurate devise known to man, it's a fun little gadget & it helps to keep me motivated.
I also want to thank Matt for leaving his body fat scale home this week. I don't want to drops the lbs too fast but its encouraging to see that I have made some positive strides this past week & that, too, motivates me to continue.
Now...I just have to keep at it! That's the problem I tend to face again & again... Don't give up!!!
Ok...proscastination time is over. Need to get my butt moving. Can't add on any steps just sitting here. Later...

Side-tracked...
I know what I set out to do this morning but it just didn't happen...and so, well, now Muffin REALLY smells good & is a lot cleaner & a little less hairier.
In other words...I gave Muffin a bath! She hung on to me for dear life & tried to escape, numerous times, but it just didn't happen. I was really surprised that she didn't try to claw me to death or bite through my flesh. I kept assuring her that it'd be ok...honest!
She's shedding quite a bit & so I was just trying to help...a few less hairballs to swallow. Maybe someday she'll thank me... & then again, maybe you just have to do what you gotta do, even without a pat on the back. Know in your own heart that you're doing a good turn daily & let it go at that.

The 'Perfect' Proscrastinator...
I'm convinced...someday soon someone is going to write a book about me, "The Perfect Proscrastinator". ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Why do I do it? There are tons of sites out there identifying the problem...but what is it about me, specificially, that makes me keep doing it, putting stuff off, that is...
If you know the answer...please speak up!
I HATE this about me & I really do want to change my delinquent ways. I feel like a prisoner in my own mind & somebody else has the key. Now, I know that isn't true...I hold the key. I just can't figure out where I put it.
